Introduction

Visible vessels/broken capillaries (telangiectasia) over the cheeks, nose and chin are a common concern.

Symptoms

These blood vessels can be red or dusky in colour and are often accompanied by generalised background redness and flushing and blushing.

Causes

Sun damage and rosacea are arguably the most common causes for these visible vessels and in many instances these vessles enlarge with age and become more obvious.

Results for treatment of visible vessels are often seen immediately. Sometimes the treated vessels will darken before fading away, whilst others will disappear at the time of treatment.

TREATMENT

Vascular laser is the treatment of choice. We use multiple vascular laser systems depending on the skin type of the patient and the condition being treated.  Just one of our vascular laser systems (Cutera Excel V) utilises two wavelengths (532nm and 1064nm) allowing vessels at different skin depths to be treated and in most skin types.

In addition, the dedicated Laser Genesis™️ handpiece is a great device for reducing generalised redness, flushing and blushing, especially when used with prescription skin care consistently to achieve and maintain the best results.

How are we unique

The term ‘laser’ is an umbrella term to describe a wide variety of devices, technologies and parameters. Whilst the ‘laser’ machine being used is important, of even more importance is the operator, much like a skillful driver is needed to harness the power of a racing car. How the device is used, what parameters are chosen and the long-term treatment plan prescribed, will determine the safety and efficiency of the treatment both in the short and longer term. As such, we encourage you to make an appointment for an initial consultation so we can examine your skin to determine if laser treatment is the right treatment for you.
